ÅRHUS CITY

Århus is the second largest city in Denmark with 280,000 inhabitants. The history of Århus goes back more than a thousand years and it is one of the true viking towns. It has an outstanding location, encircled by woods, and bordered by beaches the city lies in a shielded spot inviting you to enjoy its extensive attractions. Best known and treasured is the open-air museum "The Old Town" with more than 65 half-timbered houses from every part of Denmark. A few miles from the summer residence of Queen Margrethe II, Marselisborg Palace, is another attraction, Moesgård Museum, the museum of prehistory. Århus is an educational and cultural centre and the very soul of the city is a charming blend of provincial town and big city, which will make you feel at home and welcome.

TRAVEL

By plane
Aarhus Airport is connected with Copenhagen International Airport/Kastrup with 14 daily departures on weekdays and 8 departures on Saturdays and Sundays. The flight takes 35 minutes. In Copenhagen, a free transit bus links the international and domestic airport terminals.

Aarhus Airport, located 40 km north of the city, offers direct international flight connections to several airports, including Oslo and Stockholm.

Billund Airport, located 100 km south of the city, has direct international flight connections to several airports, including Oslo, Bergen and Stockholm.

There is a bus service to Århus city from both airports. The travel time from Aarhus Airport to Århus is approx. 50 minutes (one way ticket approx. DKK 50) and from Billund Airport to Århus approx. 1 1/2 hours (one way ticket approx. DKK 120). Tickets are sold on the bus. SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME

The scientific programme will consist of lectures and posters.

PRESELECTED LECTURES

A number of lectures of 30 minutes' length will be preselected by the organizers. The purpose is to provide a good insight in the current chemistry of our geographic area.

SHORTER LECTURES
The programme will also consist of shorter lectures of 20 minutes' length, which will be chosen by the organizers based on the abstracts submitted.

The lectures will be followed by poster sessions throughout the symposium. Participants wishing to contribute to the scientific programme should submit a one-page abstract of their contribution indicating whether they would accept giving a 20 minute lecture.

Lecturers may use slides, overheads or computer generated presentations that will be displayed through a video projector (bring PC or Macintosh disc).

POSTERS
have a size limit of 120*90 cm (height*width).

ABSTRACTS
Abstracts should be submitted for all types of contributions. They should be submitted on a single sheet of A4 paper leaving 2 cm margins on both left and right hand side and 2,5 cm from top and bottom. Please use the font size 12 and 1.5 line spacing. The title of the contribution should be written in bold face letters. Please leave a blank line after the title and then write the names of the authors. The name of the presenting author should be underlined. Inclusion of graphics in the abstract is strongly encouraged. Please mail the original of the abstract and two high quality photocopies, unfolded and unstapled, separately to the organizers: Kim Daasbjerg and Troels Skrydstrup, Department of Chemistry, University of Aarhus, DK-8000 Århus C, Denmark.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15 June 2000.

Please note that the registration form is to be sent to Århus Convention.
